An Overview of Trade in Agricultural Products between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) from January to October 2025

According to customs statistics, the total value of trade in agricultural products between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEECs) reached 11.2 billion yuan from January to October 2025, dropping 4.0 percent compared to the same period last year (the same below).

 

Key features of trade in agricultural products between China and CEECs during the January-October period in 2025 are shown as below:

 

(I). China's exports were dominated by nicotine-based products for e-cigarette cartridges, edible aquatic products, dried and fresh fruits and nuts.

From January to October 2025, China's exports of agricultural products to CEECs increased by 10.0 percent to 8.92 billion yuan, making up 1.2 percent of its total exports to the region in the same period. Notably, exports of nicotine-based products for e-cigarette cartridges decreased 7 percent to 1.79 billion yuan; edible aquatic products increased 28.9 percent to 1.01 billion yuan; while dried and fresh fruits and nuts reached 650 million yuan, soaring 106.8 percent.

 

(II) Major imports included dairy, hops, and feathers & down.

From January to October 2025, China's imports of agricultural products from CEECs decreased by 36.0 percent to 2.28 billion yuan, making up 1.3 percent of its total imports from the region in the same period. Notably, imports of dairy products rose by 34.2 percent to 680 million yuan; imported hops grew 63.9 percent to 170 million yuan. Meanwhile, feathers and down for stuffing fell sharply by 61.6 percent to 160 million yuan.

 

(III) Poland, the Czech Republic, and Romania emerged as China's top three trade partners of agricultural products.

From January to October 2025, China's export & import values of agricultural products with Poland reached 4.17 billion yuan, a 0.02 percent increase; export & import values of agricultural products with the Czech Republic amounted to 1.29 billion yuan, up 16.2 percent; and export & import values of agricultural products with Romania fell 16.7 percent to 1.14 billion yuan. Together, these three countries accounted for 37.2 percent, 11.5 percent, and 10.2 percent, respectively, of the nation's total import-export value of agricultural products with CEECs.
