Recently, at Suanshan Terminal, a major container terminal within the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, the vessel "Sheng Tai" completed loading approximately 40,500 metric tons of aviation kerosene and slowly left their pier. This marked the 20th aviation kerosene export operation at the Port of Ningbo this year, with cumulative exports reaching 737,000 metric tons year-to-date.
Aviation kerosene is a fuel specifically used for jet aircraft and some turboprops, characterized by its high energy density, excellent low-temperature fluidity, and stable combustion, thereby meeting the stringent operational requirements of modern aircraft engines. In recent years, driven by factors such as national policy encouragement, the aviation kerosene industry in China has experienced significant development opportunities. A group of leading domestic refining and chemical enterprises represented by Sinopec Zhenhai Refining& Chemical Company have consistently increased R&D investment and continuously optimized production processes to achieve high-standard, large-scale production of aviation kerosene. This supply of aviation kerosene to foreign markets has taken a solid step for domestically produced aviation fuel in expanding its international presence.
"The smooth export of aviation kerosene would not have been possible without the comprehensive and precise services and facilitation measures provided by Ningbo Customs. Since the beginning of this year, our aviation kerosene exports have grown by 51.6% year-on-year," said an executive from Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company. "In the future, we will actively expand into international markets, striving to bring more high-quality domestically produced aviation kerosene to the world."
In response to enterprises' demand for domestic aviation kerosene export, Daxie Customs, under Ningbo Customs, has continuously deepened its "Smart Customs" development and the "Smart Customs for a Strong Nation" initiative. It has established dedicated service windows and assigned specialized personnel to guide business in streamlining business processes such as vessel declaration and manifest transmission, thus proving a convenient customs clearance environment for the export of domestically produced aviation kerosene. "We have continuously optimized our supervisory model, tailored to the characteristics of pipeline transportation for goods. By leveraging the advantages of the 'arrival while loading' mode for bulk commodities, combined with the convenience of fully paperless logistics supervision, we help enterprises achieve 'fast loading' and 'fast export'," said Xia Shang, Deputy Chief of Logistics Supervision Section 1 at Daxie Customs.
Moving forward, Ningbo Customs will continue to optimize services, supporting enterprise transformation and upgrading, and promoting the high-quality development of energy trade, including aviation kerosene export. This aims to assist the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan in accelerating its establishment of a bulk commodity resource allocation hub, thereby enhancing its "Hub Free Trade Zone" brand.
