Fujian's Foreign Trade Reaches 1.25 Trillion Yuan in First Eight Months of 2025

According to Fuzhou Customs statistics, Fujian Province's foreign trade volume reached 1.25 trillion yuan in the first eight months of this year. Of this total, exports amounted to 773.47 billion yuan, and imports stood at 477.23 billion yuan.

General trade accounted for 70% of Fujian's foreign trade, with processing trade and bonded logistics also maintaining growth. In the first eight months, Fujian Province's general trade imports and exports reached 947.38 billion yuan, making up 75.7% of the province's total foreign trade during the period. Among them, exports amounted to 576.15 billion yuan and imports totaled 371.23 billion yuan. Concurrently, processing trade saw imports and exports totaling 155.46 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 9.5% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 12.4% of the overall trade. Trade conducted via bonded logistics were 118.9 billion yuan, growing by 5%, comprising 9.5%.

Private enterprises continued to be the main force in Fujian's imports and exports. In the first eight months, private enterprise in Fujian recorded 761.41 billion yuan in foreign trade, accounting for 60.9% of the province's total during the period. Foreign-invested enterprises' trade volume reached 272.25 billion yuan, up 21.8%.

ASEAN remained Fujian Province's largest trading partner, with imports and exports with the EU, Latin America, and Africa also expanded. In the first eight months, trade with ASEAN totaled 246.31 billion yuan, representing 19.7% of Fujian's total foreign trade for the period. Concurrently, trade with the EU, Latin America, and Africa grew, reaching 174.65 billion, 135.86 billion, and 68.65 billion yuan respectively, up 8.1%, 0.4%, and 16% respectively.

Fujian Province's exports of mechanical and electrical products showed growth, with lithium batteries and similar items acting as a significant catalyst. In the first eight months, mechanical and electrical product exports from Fujian reached 359.04 billion yuan, growing by 2.6%, accounting for 46.4% of the province's total foreign trade exports during the same period. Among these, lithium-ion batteries, flat panel display modules, automobiles, ships, and wires and cables provided strong momentum, with exports reaching 87.23 billion, 15.01 billion, 13.53 billion, 13.18 billion, and 9.47 billion yuan respectively. These categories saw robust growth rates of 19%, 14.7%, 55.9%, 42.4%, and 88.9% respectively, collectively boosting the growth of mechanical and electrical product exports by 3.6 percentage points.

Fujian Province saw an increase in imports of metal ore and mechanical and electrical products. In the first eight months, metal ore imports for Fujian Province reached 114.86 billion yuan, a 3% rise, making up 24.1% of the province's total foreign trade imports during the period. Within this category, aluminum ore imports reached 4.26 billion yuan, marking a 29.2% increase, while zinc ore imports surged to 4.52 billion yuan, up 193.6%. Mechanical and electrical product imports stood at 80.54 billion yuan, growing by 0.3% and accounting for 16.9% of total imports. Key components included integrated circuits, with imports of 15.64 billion yuan (up 7.2%), aircraft parts at 12.73 billion yuan (up 22.7%), and flat panel display modules at 8.81 billion yuan (up 25.8%).
