An Overview of Agricultural Product Trade between China and Central and Eastern European Countries in January-February 2025

According to customs statistics, in January-February 2025, the total value of agricultural product trade between China and Central and Eastern European countries (hereinafter referred to as CEE) was RMB 1.89 billion, down 17.9% from the same period last year (the same below).

 

The main features of agricultural product trade between China and Central and Eastern Europe in January-February 2025 are as follows:

 

(I) E-cigarette cartridges (nicotine-containing), edible aquatic products and nuts were the main exported products.

 

In January-February 2025, China exported RMB 1.45 billion of agricultural products to CEE, with an increase of 0.2%, accounting for 1.1% of the gross export value from China to CEE in the same period. Among them, the value of nicotine-containing products used to make e-cigarette cartridges reached RMB 260 million, a decrease of 15.9%; that of edible aquatic products reached RMB 160 million, an increase of 7.3%; and that of shelled walnuts reached RMB 89.83 million, an increase of 10.9 times.

 

(II) Dairy products, hops, feathers and downs were the main imported products.

 

In January-February 2025, China imported RMB 440 million of agricultural products from CEE, a decrease of 48.4%, accounting for 1.5% of the gross import value from China to CEE in the same period. Among them, dairy products accounted for 110 million yuan, an increase of 13.7%; hops accounted for 78.792 million yuan, an increase of 124%; filling feathers and down accounted for 53.384 million yuan, an increase of 119.8%.

 

(III) Poland, the Czech Republic and Greece were the top three agricultural product trade partners.

 

In January-February 2025, China's import and export of agricultural products to Poland, the Czech Republic and Greece were RMB 680 million, RMB 250 million and RMB 220 million respectively, with a decrease of 1.5%, an increase of 58.8% and an increase of 16.7% respectively, accounting for 35.8%, 13.4% and 11.6% of the gross value of China's import and export of agricultural products from CEEC in that month.
