On April 23, according to the emergency notification from the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary to OIE, an outbreak of African swine fever virus in wild boar occurred in the Heves, Hungary on April 20. In order to protect the safety of animal husbandry in China and prevent the spread of epidemic diseases, this Announcement is made as follows in accordance with the Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China on Entry and Exit Animals and Plants and other relevant laws and regulations.

I. It is prohibited to import directly or indirectly pigs, wild boars and their related products (originating from unprocessed or processed pigs or wild boars but still capable of spreading epidemic diseases) from Hungary. The Quarantine Permit for Animals and Plants Entry into the People’s Republic of China shall not be issued to the pigs, wild boars and their related products from Hungary. The issued Quarantine Permit for Animals and Plants Entry into the People’s Republic of China shall be revoked.

II. All pigs, wild boars and their related products shipped from Hungary from the date of the release of this Announcement shall be returned or destroyed.

III. All pigs, wild boars and their related products shall be prohibited to be mailed or carried by passengers. They shall be returned or destroyed once being found.

IV. If any pig, wild boar or their related products from Hungary are found on any means of transport, such as international navigation ships, aircraft or trains, which pass through or remain in China, they shall be sealed. The wastes and swill shall be treated innocuously under the supervision of the customs and shall not be abandoned without authorization.

V. All pigs, wild boars and related products from Hungary illegally intercepted by the frontier defense department and other departments shall be destroyed under the supervision of the customs.

VI. Any violation of the above-mentioned provisions shall be processed by the customs in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China on Entry and Exit Animals and Plants and its implementing regulations.

VII. The customs, animal disease prevention and control institutions at all levels and animal health supervision departments shall, in accordance with the Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China on Entry and Exit Animals and Plants, the Animal Epidemic Prevention Law of the People's Republic of China and other relevant provisions, cooperate closely with each other to carry out quarantine, epidemic prevention and supervision properly.

The contents of this Announcement shall be executed as of the date of release.
