In the early morning of May 10, a YTO Airlines Boeing 757-200 all-cargo aircraft loaded with 24.7 tons of cross-border e-commerce goods took off from Urumqi Tianshan International Airport and arrived in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia after a 10-hour journey. The air cargo channel connecting Xinjiang, China to Serbia was officially opened.

Since Xinjiang Airport (Group) Co., Ltd.'s cargo volume hit a record high in 2024, it has closely focused on the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt and continuously improved its international cargo route layout. Urumqi Tianshan International Airport has gradually become a key aviation logistics hub connecting the whole country, Central Asia, Europe and other regions.

Belgrade is an important transportation hub and trade transit station in southeastern Europe. The Urumqi-Belgrade international freight route has further broadened the air logistics channel for China-Europe economic and trade exchanges, shortened the cargo transportation time between Xinjiang, China and Serbia, reduced logistics costs, improved transportation efficiency, and radiated the trade market of Serbia and neighboring countries, helping to smooth international logistics and trade in Belt and Road partner countries.

The opening of this route is an important practice for Xinjiang Airport Group to achieve its goal of becoming an "international aviation hub in the Silk Road Economic Belt", and will also provide a convenient air transport channel for Chinese companies to conduct trade with Serbia and other European countries through Xinjiang in the future, helping them expand their markets in the Balkan Peninsula and Southeast Europe.
