At the production facility of Rizhao Tyson Foods Co., Ltd., automated production lines are humming at full capacity, with staff meticulously preparing a rush order destined for EU customers. Rigorously inspected chicken raw materials flow seamlessly through the production line before undergoing dicing, battering, and pre-frying to become aromatic, ready-to-cooked poultry products. These products are soon to be shipped overseas and grace dining tables across Europe.
"This ‘Southern Chicken Popcorn’ order is our first with a new client, and failure to ship on schedule would impact subsequent orders," stated Wang Wei, Quality Control Department Manager who urgently sought assistance from the Second Inspection Division of Rizhao Customs, expressing significant concern over the tight deadline and demanding nature of the company’s first export order destined for an EU customer, fearing it might not be delivered on schedule.
Having operated in Rizhao for 17 years, Rizhao Tyson Foods Co., Ltd. has established a complete industrial chain from poultry breeding to deep processing. The company provides employment for more than 900 local staff and has become a key enterprise driving regional economic growth and advancing local rural revitalization.
Responding to the enterprise’s needs, Rizhao Customs activated the “green channel” policy for local inspection of fresh and perishable agricultural and food products. It deployed staff ahead of schedule to track the company’s production plans and export vessel schedules in real-time, guiding the company to optimize the timing for production, inspection declarations, and sampling appointments for each batch. This ensured products were declared for immediate inspection, ultimately reducing the overall customs clearance time by 48 hours.
The product batch successfully completed all laboratory tests on schedule and achieved satisfactory results. The first shipment, totaling 31.9 metric tons of poultry products, has since arrived punctually at the loading port and been successfully exported.
"Thanks to the successful delivery of the first order, the EU client was highly impressed with our products, clearance swiftness, and other aspects, leading them to raise their annual order to 2,000 metric tons,” Wang Wei commented. “We also submitted applications for registration recommendations to Mongolia and Kazakhstan this year. Customs officers promptly visited our hot processing workshop for on-site guidance, helping us gradually improve our hardware and software facilities to meet export food hygiene and safety requirements.”
To support the development of Rizhao's poultry industry, Rizhao Customs utilizes activities like “Customs-Enterprise Face-to-Face” and “Customs Chief’s Policy Visits.” This allows them to gain a thorough understanding of enterprise needs and specific business types, offering services such as expedited inspection declarations, appointment-based sampling, and rapid inspection and release. Additionally, the customs office maintains a risk information list, collecting and compiling the latest foreign laws and regulations, along with food safety risk warnings. This enables them to timely brief enterprises on the latest regulatory requirements from importing nations, thereby enhancing their compliance and safeguarding their ventures into international markets.
