In a recent report, amid the long blast of train whistles, two trains of the China-Europe and Central Asia routes, laden with 165 and 261 domestically produced vehicles from independent brands, set off from the Wuhu International Land Port (Taqiao Multimodal Transport Base) after being cleared by the Customs. These trains are headed to Moscow, Russia, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, respectively. This marks the first time that the China-Europe and Central Asia Railway Express has launched from Wuhu City, signifying the addition of a new international logistics channel for the city.

"The debut of the China-Europe Railway Express consists of 55 carriages and 110 standard containers, exiting through the Erenhot Port and covering approximately 9,300 kilometers. The Central Asia Railway Express comprises 29 carriages, featuring special carriages designed for transporting commercial vehicles via rail, departing through the Horgos Port with a journey totaling about 4,700 kilometers. The transportation cycle for the two trains can be shortened by approximately 2 days compared to the previous connected shipment method, resulting in an increase in transportation efficiency by over 10% and a reduction in transportation costs for enterprises by about 8%," stated Kong Qinghua, marketing manager of the Nanjing Railway Logistics Center of the Shanghai Railway Group.

It is reported that the Wuhu Taqiao Multimodal Transport Base was completed and commenced operations on October 15, 2024. The successful launch of the China-Europe and Central Asia Railway Express will further satisfy the export demand for key products such as automobiles, home appliances, and building materials in Wuhu and nearby cities. By capitalizing on its strategic location, it will accelerate the enhancement of regional trade facilitation, providing significant support in reducing social logistics costs and fostering high-quality regional economic development.

To ensure the train's successful commencement and operation, Wuhu Customs under Hefei Customs established a dedicated service assurance team. This team is involved end-to-end in the planning and design of supervisory facilities. Through field investigations, they guide enterprises in adjusting logistics flows, resolve complex issues like the networking of auxiliary supervisory systems and logistics data exchange, and ensure that supervisory facilities pass inspection seamlessly. Simultaneously, considering the characteristic of the China-Europe and Central Asia Railway Express exports being complete vehicles, a cargo supervision plan was devised beforehand. Enterprises receive hands-on guidance for standardized declarations, and facilitation measures such as "appointment-based customs clearance" and "advance declaration" are combined to ensure efficient "one-stop" customs clearance for exported goods.

In the next step, Wuhu Customs will accurately align with enterprise needs, fully leveraging customs roles and functions to continuously advance the efficient, high-quality, and high-level operation of China-Europe and Central Asia Railway Express, enhance the service capabilities of international multimodal transport business, and contribute to the high-quality economic development of the region.
