Xinhua News Agency, Zagreb, May 24 (Reporter: Li Xuejun)–On May 23, Croatian media published an article highlighting that Croatian tuna's access to the Chinese market represents a significant milestone for the country's aquaculture industry, particularly the tuna sector.
The website of Croatian weekly magazine noted in an article that Croatia's tuna industry primarily focuses on bluefin tuna farming and export. Bluefin tuna is highly regarded for its superior quality and high market value. Modern tuna farming in Croatia began in the late 1990s and has developed into one of the country’s most lucrative aquaculture industries.
The report stated that with Croatian tuna gaining market access in China, Chinese consumers have added another item to the list of agricultural products and food imported from CEEC. This also paves the way for the increase of growth in related industries in Croatia.
On the 22nd, the 4th China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair officially opened in Ningbo, Zhejiang. On the same day, with the signing of export protocols for Bulgarian saffron and Croatian tuna to China, a total of 126 agricultural and food products from 14 CEE countries have gained access to the Chinese market, and 3,430 overseas agricultural product companies have been registered.
