The inaugural train, carrying 45 containers of "Made in Hebei" products such as photovoltaic modules and rubber products, departed from Shijiazhuang International Dry Port. The cargo was first be transported by rail to Tianjin Port, then loaded onto an ocean-going vessel for its journey to the Port of Piraeus in Greece. Upon arrival, it was distributed via the China-Europe Land-Sea Express Line to final destinations including Serbia and Hungary.
According to Dong Huibin, General Manager of COSCO Shipping Lines (Hebei) Co., Ltd, compared to the traditional transport route that goes around the Strait of Gibraltar to the heart of Europe, the new rail-sea-rail multimodal transport route can shorten the transport cycle by at least 7 days. This not only broadens the import and export channels to Europe, but also effectively ensures the safety and smooth operation of the industrial and supply chains.
Guo Quanfu, Executive President of Hebei Land Port Group, emphasized thatthe opening of this new sea-rail intermodal transport route further had enriched the international logistics network of Shijiazhuang International Dry Port, supported by China-Europe Railway Express and multimodal transport, enhancing its ability to radiate overseas channels and resist risks.
